EQuIS® Open Training August 23-25, at Minnesota PCA

Class Description:
This Open Training will provide the skills and techniques for managing and analyzing environmental data using EarthSoft’s Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS). Attendees will gain experience working with environmental geology and analytical chemistry data. Workflow automation and web reporting will be covered using EQuIS Enterprise. Attendees will learn to use EQuIS Professional with several widely used reporting, visualization, and analysis tools which may include EnviroInsite, HoleBASE, EVS/EnterVol and others.
While the first portion of the class will be focused on the implementation and use of EQuIS, the final day will include in-depth training on the EQuIS for ArcGIS module. Attendees will learn how to import EQuIS data into ESRI’s ArcGIS® application and learn how to present data visually using pie charts, graduated symbols and contours. A site characterization exercise will train attendees to access data in the ArcView GIS spatial environment. Other topics include:
- Spider Diagrams (aka chem data boxes or tabular labels)
- 3rd party interface integration
- ArcGIS 3D Analyst (ArcScene) integration
- Animated graphics and 3D labeling utilities
Location and Requirements
This course will be held at MPCA, 520 Lafayette Rd N, St. Paul, Minnesota (Training Room 1, lower level).
Please bring your own laptop for use during this training class. Instructions for downloading and installing EQuIS, visualization and analysis tools, and ArcGIS evaluation software will be provided two weeks prior to the training.
Cost and Registration

EQuIS® Open Training June 14–16, Denver, Colorado

Class Description:
This EQuIS Training Class will provide the skills and techniques for managing and analyzing environmental data using EarthSoft’s Environmental Quality Information System, or EQuIS. Attendees will gain hands-on experience working with environmental geology and analytical chemistry data. Workflow automation and web techniques will be covered using EQuIS Enterprise. A site characterization exercise will train users to access data in the ArcView GIS spatial environment.
Additionally, this EQuIS Training Class will have a special emphasis on the EQuIS Sample Planning Module (SPM) and the EQuIS Data Gathering Engine (EDGE). Attendees will learn how to use EQuIS SPM to create tasks for the future, add contracts, methods and labs and also create Sample Analysis Plans that comply with USEPA standards. Students will learn how to check the completeness of scheduled sampling and non-sampling field activities. In addition to SPM, the training instruction will also focus on EDGE for collecting environmental field data, creating standardized Chains of Custody and generating Electronic Data Deliverables to import into EQuIS.
While much of the class will be focused on the implementation and use of EQuIS, discussion will also include critical data management principles such as:
- Developing standard operating procedures for data management
- Creating sampling plans
- Working with analytical labs
- Field procedures and data collection

This presentation identifies some of the challenges that contractors may encounter while meeting the requirements of the EPA Region 2 MEDD. We will also discuss the stages of planning and executing a project to help mitigate the challenges.
Janet Magurn (EarthSoft President) Accessing and Reporting EPA Region 2 data in a web interface
This is a hands-on workshop focusing on reporting data that has been loaded into the EPA Region 2 system. The data will be accessed and reported using the EQuIS Enterprise web based reporting tools.
Discussion Includes:
- Compare results across multiple facilities.
- Easily compare results to site specific and federal MCL standards.
- Receive site reports automatically via email.
- Simplify the 5 year review process.
- Exchange data with Scribe, F2L, WQX, and other common EPA tools.

The Second Annual Environmental Data Management Conference provides environmental data management professionals with a two-day opportunity to share ideas; tools and custom applications; brainstorm and collaborate on data workflow; and present data management success stories. The conference is limited to 30 registrants. There is a non-refundable registration fee of $95 per person for both days, which includes snacks and lunch and participant certificate.

EDGE is a comprehensive collection of integrated environmental field tools ensuring accurate and complete data collection, using modern software and mobile computing technologies.
In this office hours, EarthSoft’s EDGE Product Manager will demonstrate how to create Field EDD and COC templates, and will pull the wraps off the new version of EDGE, which will deliver better performance, and improved user experience.
This session will be held at 11am EDT (-5 GMT) and 6pm EDT (-5 GMT) on September 16th.
