EarthSoft 2011 Revenues Up 70%

EarthSoft continued its rapid growth in 2011 with 70% growth of License Fee revenues, 47% growth of Hosting revenues, and over 120 new EQuIS Professional license purchases. Multiple EQuIS™ Enterprise sales provided web access to EQuIS applications for many more environmental data consumers.

New products – including the EQuIS Data Gathering Engine (EDGE) and Sample Planning Module (SPM) – drove several large new sales. These sales, prompted by clients who wrote sample planning and
electronic field data collection requirements into proposals, resulted in many new client agreements awarded to EarthSoft. Approximately 90 individual EDGE licenses were delivered in 2011, as well as multiple site licenses. New innovation with ArcGIS Server generated additional revenues.

The largest three operators in the Marcellus Shale area now have EQuIS and several more have stated their plans to move to EQuIS in 2012. Five new EQuIS implementations in Calgary have been initiated in the past six months.

Competitive comparisons during 2011 show significant EQuIS strengths. EDGE and SPM, in particular, were chosen for use on several large mining and oil industry projects after extensive competitive evaluations.

EarthSoft signed up more new clients than any other environmental software company in 2011. International growth was particularly rapid, with new large contracts and relationships in Belgium,
Switzerland, Poland, Canada, Australia, the Caribbean, and Africa. Large new contracts with SGS and others will continue to expand the use of EQuIS in the management of massive amounts of
environmental data.

US Federal Government’s use of EQuIS continues to expand, with major new contracts with EPA and National Park Service. EQuIS and EDP are two of the most widely used commercial environmental
software products in US EPA.

EarthSoft added significant infrastructure in 2011 with several new staff and additional servers for hosting client data in Calgary and Sao Paulo, Brazil. EarthSoft now has servers on four continents. EarthSoft’s EQuIS is the most widely used environmental data management software system in the world.

EarthSoft announces today the release of EQuIS Version 5.6. The release culminates months of new features, bug fixes, and testing. EQuIS Enterprise, EQuIS Professional, and EDP are now available as both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) applications. The native 64-bit EQuIS applications have improved support for working with large datasets. The list below contains a few of the key new features of EQuIS 5.6:

EarthSoft announced today that its new EQuIS Enterprise Version 6, EQuIS
Alive, and EQuIS Live modules will be released in spring 2012.

EarthSoft has received several new large contracts for EQuIS in September and October, including
multi-server sales to SGS and Barrick Gold in multiple languages. Other new clients include
TransCanada, Brown and Caldwell, Black & Veatch Water, Marcellus Shale Coalition, Nexen
Energy, and the US National Park Service.

EarthSoft also announces record revenues for third quarter 2011 with significant growth in both
licensed and hosted product lines. License fee revenues increased 79% over 2010 and hosted
revenues increased by 51%. As a result of the large amount of new business, EarthSoft is hiring
multiple new staff, creating a dedicated QA department for software testing, and is offering
significant additional international training services in multiple locations including Asia, Australia,
Africa, and Poland.

EQuIS Enterprise Version 6, free to Enterprise clients with current Maintenance, offers a Silverlight
client supporting SOAP and REST web services. GIS is further integrated and is a combined
application, allowing users to create multiple dashboards that are each URI-accessible. Additionally,
multiple dashboards can be opened in multiple browser windows. Different dashboard types will
include ArcGIS Silverlight API Map and a basic dashboard (non-spatial, blank or image
background).

EQuIS Live is an optional extension to EQuIS, supporting Data logger/sensor data including:

Sensor data dashboards
Data structures optimized for high volume/high frequency data
Collaboration with multiple data logger hardware vendors

EQuIS Alive adds support for ecology data such as:

Vegetation
Biology
Soil
Habitat

EQuIS Live and Alive will be optional, additional modules in EQuIS, extending the EQuIS Schema.
Additional EDD formats for EDP will be developed for each additional module, and additional
reports and graphics will be delivered in Professional and Enterprise EZView.

Keynetix Launches Major Upgrade for Market Leading Geotechnical Laboratory Management System

Redditch, 3rd October 2011 – Keynetix is delighted to announce a major upgrade to their popular geotechnical laboratory management software, KeyLAB. KeyLAB Version 2 has been completely rewritten with a determined focus on making all operations simpler and more flexible. KeyLAB 2 contains intelligent new features that will help organizations who run more than one laboratory, work to standards other than British Standards, or wish to move the system into a paperless environment.

The first version of KeyLAB was launched in 2004 and has become the market leader for geotechnical laboratory managers in the UK, British Standard based, laboratory market.

“KeyLAB 2 has been entirely reworked from the ground up” says Dr Roger Chandler, Managing Director of Keynetix. “This has been a significant investment for Keynetix which, happily, is already beginning to pay off as pre-release sales of KeyLAB 2 are looking extremely healthy.”

The focus of the development has been to make a system that is simple and intuitive for all levels of laboratory staff. Recent Keynetix trials show this aim has been achieved, proving that the average learning curve for technicians to enter test data has been reduced to a remarkable 20 minutes.

“The second challenge has been to make a simple system that was flexible enough to allow lab managers to set up any test sheets for any national standard” says Project Manager, Graham Ward. “We did a full review of all features and wish lists from the first version and made everything as simple as possible. We were helped considerably in this by our committed KeyLAB customers who attended webinars and a developer day, ensuring that our improvements were a direct response to their professional requirements.”

Once again tests have shown that Keynetix have comfortably met their brief here, as a new worksheet or report can now be added to the system in less than an hour. The powerful, yet simple KeyLAB designer application gives laboratory managers around the world the opportunity to have a fully flexible and easy to use laboratory management system for the first time.

“We have had a fantastic response to the system from overseas and, with serious enquiries arriving from New Zealand, Australia and Europe, we look forward to announcing our first KeyLAB users in these areas very shortly” said Roger Chandler. “In fact, I am so impressed by the overseas opportunities that I will be returning to Australia in October to present at the Australian Geotechnical Testing Association (AGTA) conference.”

New KeyLAB users Southern Testing have also expressed satisfaction with their new software. “We have been very impressed with the responsiveness of the Keynetix development and support team” said Managing Director, Morris Stevenson, who purchased a pre-release copy of KeyLAB 2 and have been working very closely with Keynetix as a Beta testing partner. “The system is very flexible and will allow us to integrate our existing reports. EQuIS™ Purchased by the National Park Service and US EPA Region 7

22 September 2011 – EarthSoft announced receipt today of two large EQuIS Enterprise orders, from the National Park Service – Water Resources Division and US EPA Region 7. EarthSoft’s WQX module was purchased by the National Park Service.

The National Park Service is a US Federal Agency that manages all national parks in an effort to conserve these federal lands. The system oversees and safeguards over 84 million acres, nearly 400 places, and 54 parks. The National Park Service also focuses on revitalizing communities with the help of local governments, businesses, and individuals.

The US Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 serves Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and nine Tribal Nations. EPA 7 focuses on:

Protecting and improving water quality across the Missouri-Mississippi Basin
Remedying polluted soil in neighborhood locations
Enforcing new air quality laws.

The EPA Region 7 has had an EQuIS Professional license for two years and upgraded to a larger EQuIS configuration including web Enterprise modules offering cloud-computing EQuIS. Six different EPA Regions own EQuIS licenses.

EarthSoft Announces Many New Interfaces

26 August 2011 – EarthSoft announced today many new interfaces for EQuIS Professional to multiple 3^rd party software. FEFLOW, Risk3T, and other product integrations are now available for EQuIS. Other interfaces are also now available for LeapFrog Hydro, AutoCAD, ProUCL, SADA, MiniTab, Geochemist’s WorkBench, Sanitas, AGS, R-Project, PetraSIM, and other software. EarthSoft also announced interfaces to several US government systems, including Scribe, NIRIS, Forms 2 Lite, GeoTracker, HazSite, and WQX.

Risk3T provides a seamless, interactive workspace within EQuIS Professional with direct access to EQuIS analytical data. Users can select and partition this data into multiple areas of concern (AOCs) within a single facility. Risk3T then calculates summary statistics (such as maximum detected concentration) for each analyte for automated comparison to risk-based screening levels and corrective action goals. For each AOC, the calculation of Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 action levels can be tailored by the appropriate selection of exposure pathways and the entry of site-specific values for the modeling input parameters. All of the pathways and analytical models used and specified by ASTM and EPA are provided.

Risk3T also has a new feature: an Action Level Generator that populates the EQuIS action level tables with facility-independent Tier 1 values for all of the chemicals in the toxicity tables from the selected agency. Action levels are generated for groundwater, surface soil and subsurface soil.

The Water Quality Exchange (WQX) is a database schema providing the framework for organizations to submit data to the EPA. The WQX schema is based on the Environmental Sampling, Analysis and Results (ESAR) data standard, which is EPA’s approved standard for sharing water, solid waste and air quality data. It also uses other registries of common data, names, and data formats.

The FEFLOW interface was written by AquaResource in Canada. This interface manages pumping and monitoring well data in EQuIS, exports data from selected locations, and imports the selected data into existing FEFLOW models. AquaResource has plans to expand this interface based on feedback from the FEFLOW and EQuIS user communities.

Workshop Description:

This EQuIS workshop will introduce the skills and techniques to load, edit, manage and analyze environmental data using EarthSoft’s Environmental Quality Information System (EQuIS). EQuIS is the most widely used environmental decision support and data analysis system in the world.

The class will focus on the use of Electronic Data Deliverables (EDDs) for the collection of data, and the use of ArcGIS for the visualization of data. Laboratory and field EDDs will be discussed.

Attendees will work with environmental spatial, geology and chemistry analytic data. Attendees will discuss both contractual and technical modification to data collection workflows that have been proven to dramatically improve productivity and efficiency. Among topics of discussion are:

Laboratory EDD specifications and statements of work (SOWs)
Use of EDP to enforce and check the EDDs and SOWs
Field data collection programs and field EDDs
Workflows to merge field and lab data
Integration of EQuIS data with EnviroInsite, MODFLOW and other common data analysis and decision support tools

Instructors:

Janet Magurn is the President and Co-Founder of EarthSoft. Ms. Magurn guides all software development at EarthSoft related to EDDs and consults regularly with several US states and EPA Regions, many consultants, industrials and labs. Ms. Magurn has trained over a thousand EQuIS users throughout the world. Most recently, Ms. Magurn trained over 150 labs and consultants on behalf of EPA Region 2, in New York City.

Hats off this week to EarthSoft, winner of a 2010 Business Achievement Award in the information technology (IT) category for significant growth in revenues, a rapidly growing client base, and several innovative product introductions. EarthSoft’s hosting revenues grew 187% in 2010, as more clients continued to sign up for EQuIS Online, EarthSoft’s cloud-computing product. Maintenance revenues, approximately one-third of EarthSoft’s overall revenue, grew by 13% in 2010. EarthSoft released several new products, including the Environmental Data Gathering Engine (EDGE), EQuIS for ArcGIS Server (for web GIS), Sample Planning Module (SPM), EQuIS for AutoCAD, and an updated EQuIS supporting ArcGIS version 10. A new Vapor Air EDD was also released. New U.S. clients in 2010 included the State of Iowa, Pace Laboratories, SGS, Louis Berger, Matrix Solutions, and many others. New Australian clients included Golder, URS, 4T, and Syrinx. New European clients included ARCADIS, ERM, and Golder. Worley Parsons in United Arab Emirates, the City of Tacoma, Chesapeake Energy, Maul Foster & Alongi, Weiss Associates, PPM Consultants, Gannett-Fleming, TEI, First Environment, IBM, BASF, Weston, and others were also added to EarthSoft’s large client list.
