Case Study: Multi-Disciplinary Water Resources Monitoring Project

Southern California Water Professionals
View Perchlorate Data with EQuIS for ArcGIS

Perchlorate contamination is of major concern in many parts of the country and particularly in the Southwestern United States. In a recent event held at California State University, San Bernardino, perchlorate data from a 2 million record EQuIS data set incorporating the data from over 2000 sample points were examined by environmental professionals from utilities, water districts, several cities, the county, and consulting firms from the San Bernardino area.

Geographic Information System Development
Dover Gas Light Site
Dover, Delaware

CDM provided EPA with information management services for the OU-2 groundwater portion of the Dover Gas Light Co. Site. CDM performed data reduction activities to create an EQuIS site database for complete historical groundwater monitoring data and prepared a geographic information system (GIS) for the site. CDM also performed an onsite Global Positioning System (GPS) survey to obtain accurate monitoring point locations for the GIS.

Groundwater Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study
Atlantic Wood Industries Superfund Site
Portsmouth, Virginia

CDM is conducting a remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) for groundwater of the Atlantic Wood Industries (AWI) Superfund Site. The site was used beginning in 1926 as a creosote and pentachlorophenol wood treatment plant, and for storage of treated wood, including chromated copper arsenate wood. Wood preserving operations ceased in the 1990s, and most of the processing buildings and structures are still present onsite. The western portion of the site is currently used for manufacturing post tension concrete materials. Navy operations in the vicinity of the AWI site have also affected the AWI property.
