EQuIS Chosen by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency

January 6, 2010

December 30, 2009 – EarthSoft announced today that it has received a large year-end purchase order from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) for EQuIS software.
The MPCA configuration includes EarthSoft’s Sample Planning Module (SPM) for organizing and preparing for sampling activities with electronic chain of custodies and a Completeness Checker. MPCA also ordered Unlimited Distribution Licenses of both EarthSoft’s new EQuIS Data Gathering Engine (EDGE) and EQuIS Data Processor (EDP) for free distribution to Minnesota’s environmental community for EDD workflow and quality control. MPCA’s EQuIS Enterprise includes many features for workflow including data checking/loading (Enterprise EDP) with email and dashboard notifications and EZView automatic date- or data-driven report generation. The MPCA EQuIS system includes schema additions for EPA’s WQX and integration with ESRI’s ArcGIS Server. MPCA’s EQuIS 5 Professional Module also has a powerful ArcGIS graphical user interface.
In addition to the MPCA contract, four other states signed new contracts with EarthSoft in 2009 and several have now chosen EQuIS for WQX. EarthSoft’s WQX schema enables managing data for the EPA’s Water Quality Exchange framework. EQuIS EDP workflow automation improves the data quality of electronic submissions significantly. Organizations generating or receiving huge amounts of data and EDDs find the workflow automation is essential. EarthSoft has case studies on EDD implementations in many large government agencies: http://www.earthsoft.com/wordpress/newsroom/case-studies/
EQuIS, the most widely used environmental data management software in the world, is an advanced decision support system including a relational database schema in SQL Server or Oracle. EQuIS supports several specific scientific data types, including surface water, groundwater, sediment, limnology, and other water and subsurface data.
EQuIS for ArcGIS Server supports ESRI’s ArcGIS Server 9.3 and later, while providing web spatial querying and report generation from EQuIS via the ArcGIS Server application. EarthSoft has been working on this module with guidance from ESRI and several large government clients.
EarthSoft’s Mitch Beard said, “We look forward to a successful deployment at Minnesota and welcome them to the EQuIS consortium of states dedicated to improving the data management capabilities within their organizations. It is particularly nice to see our new products incorporated into clients’ workflows.”
